I create limited edition linocuts from my home studio near Needham Market in Suffolk. Black and white designs have a bold, graphic quality where I enjoy the mark-making potential of the medium. Colour designs are created using the 'reduction method' where each colour is printed one at a time and further lino is carved away in between printing.
My inspiration comes from frequent sketching trips, mainly in the Suffolk countryside. Designs normally evolve from observational drawings and paintings. My main aim is to achieve images that celebrate the natural qualities of linocut.
I studied 'Art - practice and theory' at Lancaster University (2001), where I made my first etchings and monoprints. After moving to Suffolk, I enrolled on a printmaking course at Suffolk College with Jude Lockie and made my first linocuts.
