A bit about me
I make linocuts prints and teach workshops in lino printing from my home/studio near Needham Market where I live with my husband, twin sons and twin cats! I exhibit my prints locally, sell online (through Artfinder and through my website direct) and I like to get out and about to fairs to show and sell my work. I also have a range of my prints published as cards through Green Pebble.
I moved to Suffolk after graduating from Lancaster University (BA Hons: Art: Practice and Theory) in 2001 and QMUC in Edinburgh (MBA Cultural Management) in 2002. In 2005 I did a PGCE in Secondary Art. I have also done printmaking courses at Suffolk College and Gainsborough's House Print Workshop.
Mostly, my inspiration comes from sketching trips in the Suffolk countryside and along the coastline...but I also take my sketchbooks on holidays with me and can find inspiration in unexpected places! My designs start with observational sketchbook studies and evolve through the printmaking process back in the studio.
My aim is to achieve images that celebrate both the beauty of the place and the natural qualities of linocut. I am currently basing a lot of my work on a collaborative project I'm working on with a group from the Suffolk Craft Society in Minsmere. There is a wonderful variety of habitats and I am getting really interested in the birds they attract.
In 2021 I had a stall at the Christmas Crafts at Blackthorpe Barn for the first time, which was really lovely. This year I am looking forward to exhibiting with the 'Norwich Print Fair' in May, opening my studio for Suffolk Open Studios in June and exhibiting in Craftco in Southwold in September!
When I'm not doing arty things I like to play my saxophone, go for a run (or walk!) and I am also trying to learn German.
